I was reading through the Jehovah Witness' holy book (I forget for the moment what it's called -- the one Adam Smith found on gold tablets and was able to translate . . . ?) and was amazed at the similarity in passages to the Bible. Subtle deception . . .

um, i think you're talking about the Book of Mormon which is the testament given to Adam Smith by the Archangel Maroni

actually it's joseph smith. adam smith was apparently an 18th century philospher and economist.

hahahahahah, I wish I'd hit this thread sooner. So very funny. Joseph Smith was a treasure hunter. Much different from Adam Smith.

well not so very different, a treasure hunter looks for the prize within the wilderness. an economist looks for a way to gain the prize within the chaos of the market. a philospher looks to find meaning within the wild.

The Jehovah's Witness bible is actually pretty much the same as any good old christian Bible with some key words changed. "The Word was with God, and the Word was God" becomes "The Word was with God, and the Word was a God" and so forth... plus that whole Watchtower thing... being the Word of God and all...

like I said, subtle deception . . . I knew that Adam Smith wasn't right but it was the first name that popped out of my head. What was I thinking? My economics profs would be ashamed of me.
