Well, as most of you probably know, we are staying in Montreal for sure until Christmas and then we will make a decision about what the next step will be. We are both thankful to have the pressure off to make such a huge decision in such a short amount of time. So in the meantime, we are both working and enjoying time with friends and doing some more exploring in the area. David is back at CH Robinson in a temporary position and I am working at a bistro/cafe called Java U. It's a 5 minute walk from our place so that's been really nice. I've also been given the opportunity to be very involved in their catering business so I'm really excited about getting experience in that field. I did my first party this last Saturday and it was really fun...ALOT of work too. It was a 70th bday party for 92 guests in the penthouse of one of the high-rises downtown. It was an amazing place and very interesting to get a glimpse into the high society life of Montreal. Thankfully we pulled it off pretty well with only a few minor set backs.
(We've finally posted some photos from the last few months. Check out the photo gallery)
Last weekend we made a roadtrip to Boston...
...which we have wanted to do since we've lived in Montreal. We had a great weekend and totally loved the city. The architecture is old and beautiful and the atmosphere is...ummm not sure how to decsribe it...earthy and intellectual, kind of. We did lots of walking, taking in some historical sights and enjoyed lots of great food including some seafood chowdah that has been served at the last seven presidential inaugurations. We also had a mean cappucinno at a "hole in the wall" cafe in Little Italy...I don't know how they make it so good!?! Sometimes we would ask people in the street questions just to hear their Boston accent. It's the hardest accent to immitate ever, and I love how it's particular only to the city of Boston.
Things back in BC are going fairly well. My mom is still in the hospital and working very hard in physio everday to improve her walking skills. However, she is still not at the point where my dad can take care of her on his own (she needs 2 people all the time), so at the moment she's on a waiting list to get into a local care home. She'll stay at the hospital until a bed opens up there. It has been a very difficult process and decision, but my mom is actually in very high spirits and she is still very motivated. We/she have realized that this is the best thing for her at the moment, but by no means does it have to be permanent if she does get to the point where she can go home again.
My dad bought a van with a wheel chair lift in it so that anybody can take her out and about...so that will be great for expanding her world outside of the hospital and care home. For those of you who pray, please keep her and us in your prayers as we continue down this path that we really can't see any further than our toes.
