I've been waiting for this to come out on DVD for years. In my mind, this is the best 'big huge mega band' concert. I can't tell you how often I watched the VHS version when it came out - I'm sure my friends got sick of it being played. It was my first visual of how big concerts could be, and still be (somewhat) intimate, though I'm sure the folks at the back of the stadium would disagree.
Crappy youtube video of 'The Fly' from the concert:
The world's oldest animal in captivity has died in Australia at the ripe old age of 176. We got to see this tortoise (see short video above) when we were in Australia last year. It is believed Harriet, the tortoise, was one of three animals naturalist Charles Darwin brought back from his trip to the Galapagos Islands in 1835 and which led to his theories of evolution and natural selection.

It's that time of year again. If you've been planning on buying a Mac, now's the time as you get a mail in rebate for $205CDN if you buy it with an iPod. Keep the iPod for yourself, give it as a gift to your favorite blogger
If you're a UofS student/staff/faculty (or know someone who is) you can go here and order it.
Great flash animation - click the big 'PLAY' button.
I sometimes wonder about shirts like this and what the response would be if I were to wear it to, say, church? Obviously the "d" word is a bit harsh and probably not what a lot of parents would want their kids reading and repeating, but surely you can't argue with the sentiment?
Oh, WWWD. (As in 'What Would Wade Do')
Alas, he's gone up to the great, great white north.
And no, I didn't order the shirt (yet). And I (probably) won't.
Update: Even better, watch it in quicktime/HD on Apple's site along with the other new ads.
Inside joke here with Mark and I, but I actually laughed out loud (you know, lol) when I saw this.
From iLounge.com:
...the newspaper’s report reveals that an iPod plant in Longhua houses 200,000 workers, who work 15-hour days for $50 per month. The workers reportedly live in dormitories that house 100 people each, and that outside visitors are not permitted. The Mail reports that the iPod nano is made in a five-story factory that is secured by police officers. The article also says that workers at an iPod shuffle factory in Shanghai are housed outside the plant, and earn $100 per month—but that they must pay for their housing and food, “which takes up half their salaries.”
Not all that surprising really. The iPod is this decade's shoe. A single iPod shuffle (512MB) sells for $90CDN so that basically pays off a worker's salary for a month. I'm guessing each worker makes quite a few shuffles a day. Sad.
I'll try this one out for awhile. I've been experimenting with Wordpress on a super secret blog in a secret location - see if you can find it and leave me a comment if you do. (Hint: Something to do with the name of this blog.)
This design is from the recent Movabletype style contest and was designed by Bryan Buchs.
There's something funky with some of the li elements in some of my pages, but it's most likely something I did by not following css/html standards as usual.
1 more day..
Starting Friday...
Apparently I can't comment on my own blog. Nice. I'm getting somewhat mildly frustrated with Movabletype lately. I've been contemplating a switch over to Wordpress but change is scary.
Here's a couple tips for killing off those deadly little mosquitos that have come to suck your blood.
First up is a $200 device that looks suspiciously like the backpacks they used in Ghostbusters to vanquish the Marshmellow Man (or was it the Michelin Man?):
Next up, for you do-it-yourself types is something that came out of a Taiwan school class' experiments:
To celebrate (aka 'Make More Money') the 20th Anniversary Edition of the original Transformers animated movie, Hasbro is releasing updated versions of the first generation of Transformers. The first wave of the DELUXE CLASS figures will include Bumblebee, Rodimus, Astrotrain, STARSCREAM and will be available in November at the approximate retail price of $9.99) Optimus Prime, and Megatron VOYAGER CLASS figures will be also be available in November at the approximate retail price of $19.99.
I know what Mark and I will be getting each other for Christmas this year. :)
Monolingual is a freeware app that allows you to free up some space in OS X by removing languages you don't use. Just be careful that you don't remove languages that you might actually use because the only way to get them back is to reinstall the operating system.
I managed to free up just over 2GB of space.
