U2 As The Godfather Family

From an industry party back when Joshua Tree came out. Bizarre. Worth watching just to hear the Edge laugh like a sheep.

Goodbye Travis...

We had a little bit of a goodbye party for Travis on Friday since he's not helping out with Jr High anymore. I put together a little video for it - it kinda came off like he had died or something... and maybe a little part of him has. (sniffle) Hahaaha.

Goodbye Travis

Cleaning Out the Closet

We were cleaning out a closet in our place and found a legit/complete copy of Office 2000 Premium that I'm not using anymore since it's a Windows version and I'm now a Mac guy. I've put it up on eBay if you're interested. An oldie but a goodie. :)

iWeb On Multiple Macs

iWeb

Curious, as I was, as to how to use iWeb with multiple Macs? The .Mac blog has the answer:

A number of .Mac members have written in, asking if it’s possible to publish their iWeb sites from more than one Mac. It is, and it takes just a few simple steps. There are three things you’ll need: iWeb 1.1 installed on every Mac from which you plan to publish, some type of external storage to which you always have access (a folder on your iDisk, for example), and a basic knowledge of how to navigate the Finder.

When you create a website with iWeb, all your work is saved in a single file called domain.sites (it might appear simply as “domain” on your computer, but it’s the same file). By default, iWeb stores the file in the iWeb folder located inside the Application Support folder in your Library (Users/username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites).

All you need to do is quit iWeb (if it’s open), locate the domain.sites file, and move it to wherever you’re going to use it. Then double-click the file in its new location. iWeb will launch, and you’re done. From then on, iWeb will automatically save your work in the new location, and you’ll be able to publish your site from any Mac that has access to it. Who knows, it could be the start of your global web publishing empire.

My New Two Wheeled Ride

My new bike

I picked up a new bike on the weekend from City Park Cycle. It's a Jamis Cross Country 2.0 '06 (bike nerds click here for more details). A much smoother ride than my previous Canadian Tire special. Now I just have to get my butt back in shape. It's rained 1 of the 2 days since getting it and it's threatening again but it's good to have a bike again.

I'd recommend anyone looking at getting a bit better bike go and chat with the guys at City Park Cycle. They know their stuff and are super friendly and more than willing to let you take a bike out for a spin or an hour if you want to try it out before you buy. They don't sell the cheap bikes, but they do sell good bikes.

Day Tripping to Edmonton

The Walking Dead of IKEA
Originally uploaded by iChris.

We did a quick trip up to Edmonton on Sunday with Kev and Luanne. It was fun but as you can see from Kev's picture above, it took a lot out of us. And by that I mean it took a lot of cash out of us. Everywhere you look in IKEA there's a Swedish person holding out their hand and you dutifully hand over a $20 to be able to continue.

More pics from the trip here.

Free Calls To Land Lines in US/Canada

Skype now offers free calls to land lines in US/Canada - more details here.

If you’re in the US or Canada, you can use SkypeOut to call any landline or mobile number in both the USA and Canada for free.

If you’re in the US or Canada and calling any other country, OR if you’re in any other country and calling landline or mobile numbers in the US or Canada, the standard SkypeOut rates apply.

Of course, Skype-to-Skype calls continue to be globally free, so no changes there.

Web Site Editor for Everyone (On a Mac)

Sandvox Beta

iWeb works great if you're a .Mac subscriber, but most people I know aren't and want to be able to publish their sites wherever they want, not just on Apple's server. Sandvox is a piece of software that works just as easily as iWeb only it allows you to publish your sites to any FTP, SFTP, or WebDAV site.

At this point the templates they provide aren't customizable but it is something they are going to be adding. Go sign up for the beta and give it a try while it's free.

Jr High Leaders Spring Retreat

John on the Slackline
Originally uploaded by iChris.

Travis actually took this picture with his non-digital camera before I did, but I told him since I was taking it with a digital I'd post it on the internet before he did and therefore mine would be the first one out. :)

We had a awesome time hanging out at Trav's cabin with the folks who help us out each Friday night at Jr High. It was the first spring version of this we've done in awhile (ever?) and it was a nice change to see Candle Lake in it's spring form.

Whole bunch more pictures here if you're interested.

Eat Like a Man

Kinda funny commercial - I really enjoy the fact that they destroyed the minivan. At first I thought the guy driving the minivan was just going to get out and join the 'parade of men' but when they lifted it off the bridge I got a surge of pride that there was one less minivan on the road.

Small Amounts of Drugs Legalized in Mexico

Saw this on The Daily Show last night. (New York Sun article here)

Mexico has passed a sweeping bill legalizing the possession of small quantities of almost all illegal drugs, including heroin and cocaine.

The regime, likely to be one of the most liberal in the world, is designed to avoid clogging prisons with drug addicts, allowing police to go after big-time dealers.

Crazy. It's bad enough down there with underage drinking - I can't imagine what the spring breakers are going to get up to down there now.
