more QI
Stephen Fry: Where is ninety percent of the universe?
Jeremy Hardy: Ikea.
Alan Davies: Ikea doesn't have any windows. They don't sell windows even, but they deliberately don't have any windows in Ikea so you can't see out so you have no sense of time passing, so you don't know what time you went in. You could be in there for weeks... and if your body doesn't have access to the natural passing of light—
Bill Bailey: You buy spoons.
Stephen Fry: You don't meet many American Jeremy's do you? Have you ever met an American Jeremy?
Jeremy Clarkson: No, it's too complicated. There's three syllables.

lovely quotes from QI:
Stephen Fry: We were apparently rather resistant to the idea of destroying witches in England, unlike views espoused in so-called books - and I use the word "book" very loosely - like The Da Vinci Code. [pretends to spit in disgust] It is complete loose stool water. It is arse-gravy of the worst kind.
Alan Davies: The Chinese claim to have invented absolutely everything!
Stephen Fry: They did.
Alan Davies: All I say to the Chinese is - why didn't you invent the camera twelve hundred years ago so we could prove it

found on an old bulletin
our (the Church) language has become polluted with both Christianese (our own use and definitions of words) and pseudo-psycho babble. we make up words, meanings for words and use words most of us don't fully understand to express ourselves rather than speaking in simple and accurate language or educating ourselves enough to know what the hell we're talking about.
i think i wrote this after hearing someone give a report on one thing or the other. i suddenly realized, listening to this person speak, that if i wasn't a Christian i wouldn't have the slightest idea what he was on about.

I have a new favorite television show (since Doctor Who is finished until Christmas and Top Gear doesn't start for another two weeks.) If you can find it on some BBC channel it's called QI:Quite Interesting. The basic premise is that Stephen Fry (if you've seen V for Vendetta, he's the big gay fella with a koran) sits with four other british personalities and asks them trivia questions. The difference is the scoring is based more on being interesting rather than getting the exactly right answer. If you give a boring answer a big alarm goes off and you lose ten points. Tonnes of random facts and insane british people.
oh, Hugh Laurie (House) was on the first few episodes and also had a comedy skit show with Stephen Fry.
