finally...
we finally got jer and marie married. it was a long day, but in all honestly very nice. i'm not a wedding person. and i'm definitely not a wedding party person. but we had fun, mostly due to having crazy's on both sides (groomsmen and bridesmaids).
i learned two things today (yesterday i suppose):
1) women should always have a jacket with. they are always cold and always seem to need to wear the worst clothes for the climate. ah well, guess it was just a chance for chivalry.
2) the best way to dance at the wedding is with another guy. mark is an insane dancer and was actually singing while we were dancing. plus all the old people give you wierd looks after. brilliant.

AERIALS
Life is a waterfall,
We're one in the river,
And one again after the fall.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lost ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to chose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Life is a waterfall,
We drink from the river,
Then we turn around and put up our walls.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lost ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to chose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.

no answer
i'm bringing the contest to a close. kirks the only one trying, and he hasn't got it yet. plus i sorta spilled it to a group of people tonight. the answer was:
"1984" by George Orwell
this used to be in the school system along with "Animal Farm". they've been taken out though. a shame to, its a great book thats frightningly predictive. so we'll see what the contest is next week, probably something easier.

lets see some answers
the entry with the contest of the week got bumped down. so i'll repost the question with a few hints:
where does the phrase "2+2=5" come from?
this is a quote (perhaps paraphrased) from the same material:
Who controls the past controls the future
Who controls the present controls the past
i may drop a prize of the mix disc variety on the winner. provided they can prove they didn't cheat.

us
"The human character has to basic tendencies: egoism and altruism. Egoism embodies the ethic of 'having': I am worth a million dollars because I have a million dollars. Altruism embodies the ethic of "being"; that 'I am worth what I am, as a measure of my virtues and defects'."

addictions cont.....
i forgot to post about my wednesday music buying last week. i want to thank jer and marie for the birthday present of $20 at future shop. way to feed my addiction. with that i could justify the purchase of two cd's instead of just one. my choices where quite simple really. firstly, i was finally able to get a copy of "the Buena Vista Social Club". if you know my musical history over the past year to year and a half, i have become obsessed with Cuban music. its so beautiful and happy. its like a beautiful woman in musical form. my second purchase was the new "radiohead compilation for japan". it has all the b-sides from the "hail to the thief" album. this isn't a big deal to me as i have all the singles that have the b-sides on them. what is of interest to me is the live performance of "2+2=5" that is on the enhanced part of the cd. i really need to see them live before i die.
so here's the contest for this week. where does the phrase "2+2=5" come from?

.
i need to write something up in this place. hmm, perhaps another thought provoking quote.
"unfettered creativity is one of the most powerful forms of subversion, for it offers us all a taste of freedom"

answers
either nobodies trying or those were too hard. so here's the answers:
"Aerial" - System of a Down - Toxicity
"Kid A" - radiohead - Kid A
"The Coast" - Paul Simon - Rhythm of the Saints
"Will it ever be quiet?" - The (International) Noise Conspiracy - Survival Sickness
next time i guess i'll have to make them easier or maybe offer a prize

try this
kirks known for rocking the music quiz's. i'm know for being a jerk (as Dori so politely put it). so here's a jerks music quiz:
"We hear the word
We lose ourselves
But we find it all...."
"Weíve got heads on sticks
Youíve got ventriloquists"
"This is a lonely-lone, lonely life
Sorrows everywhere you turn
And thatís worth something
When you think about it"
"I want to thank the industrialization for the noises it gave
Thanks for the planes and thanks for the trains
And for the factories that you've made"
try not to fail, and have fun.

library adventures
i love the library, its great that we share books within our community at large. today i went after i'd gone to future shop to look at music. future shop - 0, library - 8. one thing i did get was an audio copy of "War of the Worlds". i got it home and put it on. i'm thinking early 50's radio style recording. nope. 70's production including whacky keyboards and nasty synth sound effects. blech. oh well. so here's two questions for the masses:
1)what was the last thing you picked up at the library and why?
2)whats the last music you bought that nobody would expect you to own?
